Demonic possession and exorcism in Norfolk

This page was put together rather hastily, after seeing an exorcism in Tuscany on TV (C4, 9pm, 06/01/02) (super place for a holiday!) during which a young woman was strapped to a chair and abused (verbally and sexually) by her family and a priest.

The General Manager of NORCI, Alan Holland, believes in demonic possession (where psychiatry has failed). And the Church of England maintains teams of exorcists in every Diocese in the UK (some have web sites).

Had I been aware of the nature of the behaviour of priests (and others in attendance) during an exorcism, I might have acted earlier, and with greater vehemence! I had assumed exorcism merely involved incantation and prayer. How wrong I was! But then, the Church of England would not tell me what it does do!

Quite apart from the possibility of ritualised abuse, many people (Christians and others alike) would, I suspect, see it as rather dangerous to have medically unqualified people in positions of power over the vulnerable (and believe me, some of the clients of NORCI are) going about encouraging or cajoling the mentally ill to stop taking their medicine and to trust in priests instead.

Curiously, the Church hedges its bets, having a psychiatrist on its exorcism teams - perhaps it is just too hard to let go of demons and the Devil? I seem to recall they were quite attached to terracentricity once, too!
I have attempted to get something done about this potentially worrying situation, but have met with no positive response, to date.

I'm sorry if there are one or two omissions, here, but I was up until the wee small hours preparing this!
